The Double-Header
These were BATL's two most recent events — staged back to back at Meydan on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September.
A card built around fighters whose careers were developed through the UAE boxing scene — and it delivered three new champions. Ammir Khan stopped Sumit in the second round to take the WBC Asia Continental light-heavyweight crown, Michael Roos captured the WBC Asia Continental super-middleweight title, and Asaad Touqan claimed the WBC Asia Youth super-middleweight championship.
Recognised regional titles, won without leaving Dubai. Glen Lynch, Ibrahim Yousif Al Ali — now nine wins from ten — and the rest of Friday's winners kept the momentum building all evening.
History for UAE boxing: Saif Alhaj, Ammar Tayel, Abdullah Marjan and Amer Al Suwaider all had their hands raised — the largest representation of local professional boxers on a single card. Former world champion James “Jazza” Dickens returned with a points victory over Tanzania's Ramadhani Kimwaga as he pursues another opportunity at world level.
Cruiserweight Yan Zak delivered one of the weekend's standout finishes, dropping Peter Msyoka three times before stopping him in the fourth round. Twenty-four fighters in total left Meydan victorious across the two nights.
